When I taught Family of Sociology at U of M Flint, I was lucky enough to connect with Michael Moore (on Twitter @mmflint). Although the discussion didn’t get too much into family topics, it was intended to. You can view the discussion here:
What I’d like you to do is read his book and pick out pieces of it about his upbringing. Think about some of these questions:
- What influenced Michael Moore to become who he was? Family? Neighborhood? Which was a bigger influence?
- How did his father’s occupation influence his life outcome?
- Which of his movies is connected most to family issues? Sicko [health care]? Fahrenheit 911 [terrorism/race/government]? Roger and Me [industrialized city]? Any other movie [he has several]?
I want you to read the available free text below and you can make a comment on it. But, I also want you to pose a question to Mr. Moore via Twitter (@mmflint). I bet he will reply to you! Think about how we can connect to influential people now. It is a great new frontier of communication. Please, by all means, reach out to Mr. Moore on Twitter and post your outcome!
